Dating can be a stressful ordeal to begin with, but you might have special concerns about making a great impression if you wear dentures. If you’re worried about kissing properly while wearing false teeth, then you’ll be happy to learn that kissing with dentures is no different than kissing with all of your natural teeth as long as your appliance stays in place. Here’s a brief guide to keeping your dentures in kissing shape.

Make Sure Your Teeth Are Clean

A bright and beautiful smile is an incredibly attractive thing, and while dentures are made from durable and high-quality materials, they can still accrue stains and buildup if they are not properly cleaned. This can lead your smile to take on an unpleasant discoloration and a foul smell, both of which are known to make it harder to attract people. Thoroughly rinse your dentures whenever you remove them and take care to brush with an approved cleaner at least once a day while soaking them for eight hours daily.

Have Your Dentures Regularly Adjusted

While you can kiss normally while wearing a well-fitting pair of dentures, you need to take proper care of your dentures for them to continue fitting properly. After tooth loss, the jawbone begins to atrophy and recede due to a lack of stimulation. This causes the mouth to change shape, making it necessary for dentures to be modified to keep fitting properly. A poorly-fitting set of dentures can make it difficult to chew or speak and can even embarrassingly fall out of the mouth. If your dentures aren’t fitting as well as they used to, see a dentist to have them adjusted.

Be Confident

A well-cared-for pair of dentures will look great without putting off any unpleasant odors, meaning that you can smile fearlessly while wearing it. Today’s dentures are so incredibly lifelike that passers-by will not notice them and so amazingly comfortable that you might even forget that you’re wearing them at all. With clean dentures and excellent oral health, your kisses will be a pleasure to give and receive.
